Vacation Day 6 - Shenanigans At Shenanigan's

After shopping and lunch at Picnic Cafe, we went to my brother's house. We gave the kids rock candy we bought at The General Store - that may have been a mistake as when dropped on a hardwood floor, rock candy shatters into lots of little pieces. Sorry, brother.

After rock candy, we played some more hotly contested hands of Uno. My nephew won twice and was extremely excited. He also reminded SP that "You can only play if you don't win" - !!!! SP didn't win.

Then we all went to Shenanigan's Irish Pub for dinner. It's tucked away in a corner and has a screened-in outdoor dining area, so we sat outside and listened to the rain drum on the tin roof. The boys ordered beer (except for my nephew - he got lemonade). SP ordered Victory to start and then later ordered an Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout. For dinner, my dad and brother got burgers, my mom and my nephew had chicken tenders, SP had an Irish Flag Salad, I had a French Dip (and substituted beer battered onion rings for fries), my sister-in-law had Mexican Invasion, and my niece tried to order wings but unfortunately, they were out of wings so she settled for chicken tenders coasted with buffalo wing sauce. SP & I also shared an order of potato pancakes. SP's beers:

The Irish Flag Salad is fresh greens topped with grilled chicken, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, sautéed baby portabellas, feta cheese & served with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The potato pancakes are served with jalapeno sour cream.

Here's my French Dip with onion rings and SIL's Mexican Invasion (grilled chicken breast smothered in melted cheddar cheese & our homemade black bean & corn salsa served over saffron rice with peppers & onions). The onion rings were very tasty and my sandwich was a nice balance of meat and cheese and mushrooms. SIL said her Mexican Invasion was good but she would have liked more beans.

I took a long distance photo of my brother's burger and a photo of my niece's buffalo chicken tenders. The regular chicken tenders come with a honey-mustard dipping sauce. My mom reports that the sauce was tasty but my nephew rather loudly demanded,"Where's the dippy???" as he tried to steal his sister's blue cheese dressing (thinking it was ranch dressing). Our waitress was extremely nice and quickly brought him the required ranch dippy sauce. My niece does not eat blue cheese dressing, but she really enjoyed her buffalo chicken tenders (she said she liked the buffalo tenders almost more than she likes buffalo wings) and her fries.

The shenanigan's started after dinner when we were all stuffed full and unable to move, except for my nephew. Let's just say that he climbed on the chairs, tried to get on the table, spilled an entire lemonade on me, and then pulled down a string of lights. I think it's entirely possible the place breathed a sigh of relief when we left...!!! But 2 hours in a restaurant is a lot for a 4 year old. And fortunately, despite my purse being directly in the line of lemonade fire, all electronic devices (camera, cell phone, MP3 player) survived and the worst damage was some receipts and some calendar pages being soaked. It was kind of chaotic when I was frantically emptying out my purse and trying to mop up my lap and shoes!!!

Definitely a good dinner, definitely good to have the traditional 'final night dinner out,' and definitely a good time in Dahlonega.
