Labor Day

Yesterday was a gloomy, rainy, damp, gray, breezy, chilly Labor Day. We were happy that, since we fear a guest flushing a non-flushable and clogging the sewer pump (resulting is us spending another $230), we had decided to not host any family and/or friends for a Labor Day picnic - we wouldn't have been able to grill outside or relax on the deck. Who knows if we'll ever host anything again given the stress of the sewer pump!!!!!

We spent the day doing laundry and lounging around in pajama-like clothes!!! Around 5:45 pm SP fired up the grill - there was a break in the rain. He piled on the corn, onions, beets, and chicken breasts. The veggies & chicken were sprinkled with Penzey's 'Mural of Flavor' seasoning.Unfortunately, the breezes kept blowing out the grill flame and the grill wouldn't stay hot. Then the rain started again so SP brought all the food inside and finished cooking it in the oven.

In addition to those goodies, we had some frozen green beans (still working on that freezer food!), some of Googer's quinoa, and some of the Maple Oatmeal Bread that SP made in the bread machine (he likes to make bread for his lunch sandwiches but hasn't for a long time - yesterday was the perfect time to start again since we had no plans/chores).The bread was tasty despite the oatmeal (I'm usually not a fan of oatmeal).

After dinner we had some leftover peach cheesecake and watched TV. It was a very lazy, slow day, but a wonderfully relaxing one!
