Port Poached Pears

There almost was no dessert last night!! Fortunately, SP came up with the idea to poach some of the CSA pears. He found a Port Poached Pears recipe on the Giant Eagle Market District web site.

This is a very simple recipe: pared & cored pears are simmered until tender in a sauce of port, whole cloves, cinnamon sticks, sugar, and vanilla bean.A delicious dessert. We enjoyed the poached pears while watching V (which I am still enjoying), Modern Family (which is a terrific show - we laugh a lot), and Man v Food Alaska (Adam took on the Kodiak Arrest Challenge: 6 lbs of salmon cakes, Alaskan king crab legs, and reindeer sausage plus sides and a berry cobbler dessert!).

  1. I'm so jealous of your Market District. My closest is the Shadyside one, which is practically a mom-and-pop store compared to yours. I have grocery envy. :)
