Thursday Thoughts

 1. This week we made crab cakes. We tried to make the Red Pepper Sauce to go with them, but our last jarred roasted red pepper smelled funny, so we had to toss it. I really wanted a dipping sauce, so we quickly did a search and decided on a super simple remoulade:

3/8 cup mayo
1 tbsp mustard (we used Dijon)
1.5 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp paprika
parsley (we used dried and just sprinkled it in until it 'looked good')
salt & pepper

It was a very nice accompaniment - I can't decide which I like better, this remoulade or the red pepper sauce.
2. The garden is getting a little crazy in the dining room! We might need to transplant it all outside this weekend and hope for the best - or actually purchase some stuff to cover the plants in case there's a frost warning. Past experience tells us that this weekend is usually still a bit too early to move these guys outside, but...
We even have blossoms! I think those are on the cucumbers.
3. We went to see Amazing Spiderman 2 this week. We both enjoyed it, but I was surprised by something that happened while SP was just like, oh, yes, that happened in the comics so duh.

4. Speaking of comics, I almost fell off the couch laughing when we watched Modern Family last night and Mitchell accidentally dropped his mint condition ~ worth $5,000 comic book in a muddy puddle! SP was horrified - the look on his face was priceless. "You have to seal those protective bags shut so that doesn't happen!!!!" His reaction just made me laugh even harder.

I laugh now, but it was not so funny when we first moved in together and we had to figure out where to store something like 20 boxes of comics. SP was all "these are so precious and cannot go in the garage or attic or laundry room; they need to be inside in a nice climate and off the floor" and I was all "where the heck am I supposed to put all these comics boxes with all this other crap (games, game systems, CDs, board games, 'spare' computer parts, etc.) you have and supposedly it all has to be inside in a nice climate & off the floor - you have got to be kidding me how the heck do you have 1000 times more crap than me?"

Him and his stuff. Me and my neatness/need to have things organized/stored out of sight, not just piled around a room. It was not a good beginning to living together.

Apparently we've successfully sorted it all out because here we are, 6 years later.

And I am allowing pots of dirt in the dining room.
