Pearl Bakery

Yes, that's my reflection in the window of Pearl Bakery in Portland. We went there for lunch on our last day and I am so happy we went because it was delicious.
We didn't try an iced coffee, but we did try an iced tea that was excellent. There were so many delicious sounding sandwiches. We couldn't decide! Sharing is usually difficult because we gravitate towards different flavors. But, happy discovery: they sell half sandwiches as well as whole sandwiches. Problem solved!
I chose Apple~Cheddar~Walnut: Granny Smith apples, white cheddar, walnut spread, mixed greens, balsamic vinaigrette on ciabatta roll. Oh my gosh. This was so good. I loved the walnut spread and the balsamic tang and apples - I would probably never try any other sandwich there because this one was so yummy.
SP ordered Black Forest Ham with Fontina, onion, romaine, and roasted red pepper aioli on pain au levain. He said it was excellent. I was going to try a bite, but he thought there might be a bit of garlic in it, plus, I was really enjoying my sandwich and even though it was just a half sandwich, it was filling me up. Also, we shared this:
Seasonal House Salad - mesclun mix, diced apples, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, and orange-dijon vinaigrette. Such a delicious salad and I loved the dressing. We had some really great salads in Portland - this was one of them.

The pastries and sweet treats looked delicious and I really wanted to get one, but we still had 2 Voodoo Doughnuts at the hotel, plus we were planning on going for ice cream, and I was nicely full, so I passed on dessert.

This was a great place for lunch. Large, open space. Friendly workers behind the counter. Delicious fresh iced tea. Yummy salad and sandwiches. Good amount of space between tables. I sort of wish we lived in Portland so we could buy their breads! This is definitely on our 'return to' list if we are ever back in Portland, OR.
