Easiest Dip Ever: Salsa & Cream Cheese Dip

One of the easiest & fastest chip dips we make is salsa and Velveeta heated until the Velveeta is melted. My SIL makes a version with cream cheese instead of Velveeta. The cool cream cheese contrasts nicely with spicy salsa.
At least I always thought it was salsa and cream cheese. My mom thinks I am wrong. She thinks it's salsa and sour cream. I did a search for salsa and cream cheese recipes and found a lot, so I think I'm right especially because when I searched salsa and sour cream dip recipes, most of them had more ingredients than just salsa and sour cream. I am sure that SIL's dip is the simplest thing ever because SIL is not as interested in cooking as we are and prefers extremely simple & quick recipes. The fewer the ingredients, the better.

For lunch on Super Bowl Sunday, we made this super easy Salsa & Cream Cheese Dip and ate it with chips.
Most recipes I saw suggested a ratio of 1 cup salsa mixed with 8 ounces cream cheese. We didn't measure. We used a leftover block of cream cheese, probably about 5-6 ounces, and added salsa until it looked good to us, probably an amount equal to the cream cheese but we eyeballed it. We microwaved for 30 seconds and stirred, repeating until the cheese melted and mixed into the salsa. Since I don't like hot (spicy) salsa, the jar we had in the pantry was mild. This was perfect for me, but SP would have preferred this dip with more of a kick. I think I might like this dip with hot salsa because the cream cheese is so cooling and because I'm pretty sure SIL always uses hot salsa and I like her dip. Maybe next time we'll try it with hot salsa.

The two of us finished the dip in one sitting. As SP said, it was Super Bowl Sunday. It's OK to eat lots of chips and dip. And also to eat Doritos, which he bought and dipped into this dip.
