Home From Vacation

Kure Beach/Fort Fisher
SP & I just got back from a 10 day vacation in NC. It was lovely! OK, truthfully, it was, at times, a little windy and chilly for me, but it was relaxing and fun and so nice to be away.

We first went to the Outer Banks. Neither of us had ever been there. We stayed in Corolla. Since we're not really beach people, we did other things:

Explored the sand dunes at Jockey's Ridge State Park
Walked the length of the Duck Boardwalk
Walked around the Elizabethan Gardens & Fort Raleigh
Duck Boardwalk
Then we drove down to Wilmington, NC where we:

Relaxed on the swings at Carolina Beach
Checked out Wrightsville Beach

Finally, we spent a day at Carowinds Amusement Park, where SP got to ride the new coaster, Fury, many times so he was a happy boy. I sat in the shade and read a book!

And then we drove home and began a seemingly non-stop whirl of shopping, cooking, cleaning, unpacking, laundry, ironing, changing from winter to summer bed stuff (it's been 89-90 degrees here!), yard work, garden work, and seeing SP's mom for Mother's Day. It feels like we already need another vacation! I think SP was happy to "escape" to work today, although he was dreading seeing his inbox.
