Downey's House

A spicy chicken & bean soup SP enjoyed
Downey's House is one of our go-to non chain restaurants in Robinson Township. It's on Steubenville Pike. It's the kind of place where we've been enough times that they know us, our favorite waitress always chats with us for a while, and they know without asking that we're always going to order the Fried Zucchini. There's usually a few large groups, extended families dining together or friends gathering for dinner during/before a game (lots of TVs showing sports).

I've written about Downey's House before (here and here) but every so often, I like to again write about places we frequent. They have homemade iced tea. It's casual, relaxed, fun, sometimes boisterous and loud.
SP almost always goes for a fish entree. Last time it was the salmon, above & below, served on a mixture of zucchini, onions, mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, a hint of bacon for flavor and a light sauce with white wine.
Meals and sandwiches are always huge, Pittsburgh size, and usually we take home half for lunch the next day. SP said the salmon was yummy and he really liked the veggies underneath.
Usually I get the Meatball Hoagie, which is fantastic and one of my favorite sandwiches ever, but last time, I got another tasty sandwich, the Philly Steak & Cheese. My second, favorite sandwich - lots of gooey cheese and thinly sliced steak with grilled onions and peppers on a toasted hoagie roll. Yum!

If you're in Robinson and looking for lunch/dinner, large portions and not too pricey, give Downey's House a try.
