Gemelli with Zucchini, Tomatoes, & Bacon

Years ago, when I was recovering from a broken femur, my mom was in town to help me and she & I made Gemelli with Zucchini, Tomatoes, and Bacon. It's from Bon Appetit September 2004.
It was a great dish, but since dad doesn't like zucchini, and then SP was told (mistakenly) that he had celiac disease so making pasta was an ordeal we avoided (regular pasta for me, gluten free for him, double the pots and colanders, etc.), this recipe was shoved aside. But not forgotten.
I waited until tomato and zucchini season to suggest this dish. SP said OK. It's pretty easy to make - we made it one evening after he got home from work. I had everything ready to go, he just had to plop the zucchini and pasta in the boiling water and then put it all together.
It's just as delicious as I remember and SP said he really liked it. I think it's best during zucchini, tomato, and fresh herb season. Lucky for us, the oregano did fantastic this year, so we had plenty of fresh oregano. Next time I might saute the zucchini separately or grill it. Lots of bacon taste and crunch, creamy, melted goat cheese coating each bite, crisp zucchini, juicy tomatoes. Definitely a make again dish.
