Thursday Thoughts

1. This week we made Chicken Piccata with Lemon Pasta. This is one of our favorite meals. I love the lemon flavor and the salty bite of capers.

2. This week I caved in and ate Fritos. Begged SP to buy them. I just had to have Fritos.

3. I finally started reading again. There was a long hiatus because of our vacation and then the post-vacation recovery time. This month I've read:
  • The Catch and The Doll by Taylor Stevens
  • The Girl in the Spider's Web
  • Make Me by Lee Child
I have stack of 3 unread library books next to my chair. I'm enjoying Stevens' Vanessa Michael Munroe books, so those 2 were good. I loved the latest Jack Reacher novel. I started reading during the Steelers game and I couldn't put it down. I even read all through watching The Leftovers (which, I just kind of don't get and it's so... depressing. And confusing). Lee Child doesn't disappoint.

The Girl in the Spider's Web was good, too, and I got engrossed and couldn't put it down. I couldn't decide if I wanted to like it because I love the original trilogy or if I wanted to not like it because I feel like Larsson's estranged father & brother and his publisher are just exploiting his characters and legacy for all they're worth and not being fair to his long time partner. My dad enjoyed the book a lot, too, after being skeptical of a book based on Larsson's characters but written by someone else.

4. As for TV:
  • We gave up on Minority Report
  • We are enjoying the new season of Fargo
  • We still have a lot of laughs watching Brooklyn Nine Nine, Modern Family, and Big Bang Theory
  • I want to quit The Leftovers but SP is undecided. He might have to watch it by himself.
  • We both are still enjoying Quantico and trying to figure out who framed Alex
  • We both are cheering madly against Green Team on Amazing Race
  • I can't wait for this Thursday's Grey's Anatomy after last week's ending!
5. A couple of the Thanksgiving issues of the magazines to which we subscribe arrived. I'm not ready for Thanksgiving! I need to get through Halloween and then my birthday and then we'll figure out Thanksgiving. But there will for sure be pumpkin pie, apple pie, and sausage stuffing.

  1. Loved the new Teacher novel .Chatted to my IT nerds at school(I am a teacher) and they new all about the dark web which I found a bit disconcerting. Have been sending your posts on London to my daughter who is in Bloomsbury finishing her PhD at LSE . Best wishes and happy birthday.Hope Sp orders a delicious cake for you. I always salivate at your descriptions

    1. Thanks! The dark web sounds very disturbing and creepy. I was kind of happy Reacher took matters into his own hands and dealt with those sickos!

  2. Reacher not Teacher. Sorry. But I am a teacher:-)
