Everyday Noodles

Jasmine Green Tea
Last Friday, I had a doctor appointment. It was an afternoon appointment and by the time we left, it seemed like a good time for an early dinner. So we went to a place we really like but had not been to in quite some time, a place that offers comforting food: Everyday Noodles in Squirrel Hill.
We adore the soup dumplings. We always order the Pork & Crab Soup Dumplings. They are so warming and comforting especially on a chilly March day and when you're battling a cold and after you just had a not so pleasant doctor visit.
SP loads his soup dumpling spoon with the provided ginger slivers and soy sauce. Sometimes I add a wee bit of soy sauce, but usually I prefer to just enjoy the dumpling. You have to be careful when you bite into the dumpling because the broth is super hot. And, as I learned yet again, if you aren't careful, sometimes they like to "explode" soup broth all over your white sweater.
The other dish I love at Everyday Noodles: Shrimp, Pork, and Vegetable Pot Stickers. These are the best potstickers I've ever had. Even better than the beloved gyoza I ate all the time when I lived in Japan.
So. Good. Sometimes I make a mess of mine, like I did with this one after I took a photo. My right hand has been bothering me a lot, one of those carpal tunnel, repetitive strain, whatever kinds of things and so I was struggling with the chopsticks. Kind of embarrassing because once upon a time, I could pick up M&Ms with chopsticks, but now thanks to hand & finger tingles and pains, my chopstick prowess is so very sad and pathetic. But all that matters is getting all the delicious potsticker into your mouth, even if you *gasp* stab it with the chopsticks or use your fingers.
After soup dumplings and potstickers, I don't need anything else, but I know SP loves soup, so I suggested a bowl of Lamb Noodle Soup Consomme. We chose thin noodles. I loved the noodles and bits of lamb but not so much the lamb broth. SP thought I was crazy. He loved the lamb broth and happily ate most of this before taking the rest home for lunch the next day.

We still really like Everyday Noodles even if we don't get there very often because we do not live in the area. Servers are always efficient and helpful, we like watching the noodles being made, the food we order is very yummy, and we always leave feeling happy & comforted.

  1. We need to try this before we move out of squirrel hill! I always walk past it and think about wanting to eat there and then forget
