First Course: Smoked pork belly, peach and smoked gouda grits, peach BBQ sauce. Creamy, cheesy grits are one of my favorite things. The pork belly was not too fatty and the peach BBQ had just a bit of kick to it, which I liked.
Second Course: Grilled peach salad, kale, goat cheese, candied pecans, peach basil vinaigrette. This was a very good salad. The peaches were juicy, the vinaigrette not too overpowering, tangy goat cheese, and a nice crunch from the pecans.
Third Course: Grilled boneless pork chop, peach butter, roasted peach risotto, asparagus.
The pork chop was excellent, juicy and flavorful, swirled through the peach butter. I liked the risotto a lot, creamy and studded with bits of peach, and the still crunchy/not overcooked & not limp asparagus.
Dessert Course: Peach trifle, peach jam, lavender honey shortbread, peach whipped cream.
This was a light, flavorful, summer dessert. I was stuffed but I managed with a little help from SP to finish it.
I'm a little sad we missed the tomato tasting in July because I love tomatoes. This is the first time we've tried the seasonal tasting menus at Bistro 19 and we've really enjoyed both. Each tasting is available for 2 days, a Tuesday & a Wednesday. The next one is a corn tasting August 30 & 31. Our server told us there will be a fall apple tasting menu and a pumpkin tasting menu.
As usual, staff was friendly and our server was wonderful. She always had a smile on her face and seemed happy to be there even though the restaurant was crowded and boisterous with people trying the tasting menu and she had to repeat each course description over & over all night as she served!
