Well we thought the roof project was done, but someone showed up this morning to do the final little bit. So now it's done. We think. I guess we'll know for sure when we get the big bill.
Happy Stuff: Last weekend we planted new flowers (the petunias died) and installed a new outdoor porch light and cleaned up the outside a bit. Happily, M was here this week and she re-cleaned some of the big windows because they got dirty from the roof project.
Annoying Stuff: My computer died. Again. I swear this time it was not my fault. I didn't break any cords or do anything. I shut it down last Friday and then when I tried to use it this past Monday, it was dead. It would start, but then it was just frozen. Or it would spend hours trying to open a window and never succeed. I couldn't even Control-Alt-Delete.
Thank goodness I have 24-7 tech support (Hi SP!). He gave me a look, tried a few things, swore a bit, and declared that my hard drive must be dead. So we ordered a new one and last night, he got everything (mostly) back to where it was. I've been spending time today fixing all my settings and stuff. Grrr.
On the bright side, my hands/wrists got a 3 day break from computer time (yes, I could have used SP's, but his desk is a scary mess and I don't like his set up).
Meals This Week: Last Sunday we smoked another chunk of pork shoulder. So good! Our little smoker only gets the meat up to 145-150, so after about 6-7 hours we transfer it to the Dutch oven, add beer, and cook at 325 until it reaches 200-205. That seems to be the temperature (for us/our oven & meat thermometer) at which it easily pulls apart with a fork.
We've been eating the smoked pork with potato salad and garden tomatoes this week. This is our first potato salad of summer & we used fresh tarragon instead of fresh thyme (our usual choice) in the potato salad. It's good, but I think I prefer thyme. We also made a zucchini & eggplant dish for our other meal.
I finally satisfied my craving for Sugar Cookies.
TV Update: I didn't mean to start watching another show but we now find ourselves into Bloodline on Netflix. We just finished episode 5 (of season 1). We finished OITNB and were saddened by the last 2 episodes. We have 4 Kimmy Schmidt episodes left but I'm definitely not enjoying season 2 as much as season 1.
The Night Of ended on HBO. I liked the final episode but gosh, kind of depressing.
Books: I read The Woman in the Photo. I liked the premise but somehow the actual writing/execution of the story left me kind of disappointed. I wanted more from this book.
Movies: I watched Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. It was OK. It took me a long while to get interested in it and then it was over. I almost turned it off after the first 15-20 minutes.
