Thursday Thoughts

It's been a really long time since we used the rotisserie attachment for our grill. But last weekend, we did. We made a rotisserie chicken. I'm always worried when we rotisserie chicken ever since the Black Chicken Incident of summer 2013, but SP swears that since he started using a foil roasting pan to catch the drippings form the chicken, there's no risk of flare ups and blackening. We seasoned this chicken with Penzeys Northwoods seasoning. It's delicious and it's dinner every night this week since a roast chicken is a lot of chicken for the two of us!

Last weekend SP put up our 3rd mailbox. Yes. We've been in this house 9 years and we are on our 3rd mailbox. Do other people have mailbox problems? First the wood post rotted and it toppled over. In February. A really cold, really snowy February. Installing a new post then was fun. Then a box lost its flag so we couldn't have outgoing mail. We kept using it anyway but then its "door" went missing (it had issues with staying shut). So our mail was blowing around the neighborhood. We replaced that box. All was good until this past weekend when a metal joint on post #2 rusted enough for box #2 to fall off the post. So SP bought & put in post #3. But then the box couldn't be removed from the rusted part to attach it to the new post because the screws were too rusted. So we went and bought box #3. As for the house number stickers? Hahahaha. We have to buy new ones every 1-2 years. I don't know why, but our stickers peel off/blow off/ just disappear.

We'll see how long this new post, new box, new number stickers last.

What We're Eating:

  • Rotisserie chicken with Mediterra brown bread, cauliflower casserole/grilled zucchini/steamed broccoli
  • Dessert: Checkerboard Icebox Cookies

What We're Watching:

  • Scandal is back tonight!
  • We are watching SEAL Team on CBS because David Boreanaz is in it (Buffy! Angel! Bones!) and it's an OK show. I'm not sure we'll stick with it long term.
  • We're still watching Gotham but I'm kind of bored with it. It's just not changing/growing/evolving enough for me.
  • SP is super duper excited for the new Blade Runner movie. So much so that Tuesday he decided he wanted to watch the original. Again. I've never seen the original. He cannot believe I've never seen it. So we made a deal: I'd watch the original Blade Runner with him and then he'd watch a movie he's never seen (he's never seen Dirty Dancing or Footloose or.... there's a lot). But then the Blu-Ray player upstairs didn't like the Blade Runner disc (it made a horrible humming/whirring noise it didn't make when we put other discs in) but the downstairs player was fine with the disc. I didn't feel like going downstairs (which involves going outside, down the driveway, in the back door, and then the reverse at 11 pm or so). Plus, the basement is chilly. So, depending on your point of view, the wheelchair and the upstairs Blu-Ray saved me/denied me the chance to see the original Blade Runner. I wasn't all that sad. I simply watched This Is Us & House Hunters by myself. And ate a lot of checkerboard cookies.

What I'm Reading:

  • Still have a pile of library books.
  • The magazine pile is smaller.
