Thursday Thoughts

Last weekend I got my flu shot. Usually I get one at my annual check up, but my doctor had to reschedule the appointment for November and I figured that was a little late for a flu shot. It's much easier/faster to get it at my annual appointment. I went to Market District and was told it'd be about a 30 minute wait - ugh. Then again, they did give us a $5 credit on our Advantage Card for getting a flu shot there. That $5 bought me Fritos for an afternoon snack this week (I was craving a crunchy, salty snack).

This week I went to the DMV and got my new photo license. This time was somewhat less awful than the last time, maybe because my mom took me during the week. Nevertheless, there were crying, screaming children and the wait time was 40 minutes. The DMV stinks. After, we went to breakfast at Bakn and I recovered with some hot Earl Grey and my favorite breakfast sandwich.

Also this week I went to the dentist. You'd think the dentist would be pretty low stress but it's not. I cringe throughout the scraping that they call cleaning. After a dentist visit I always feel like my teeth have been assaulted because they feel sore, not clean. SP says I'm weird. But we both got good reports, back in 6 months.

What We're Eating:

  • beer braised pork with steamed broccoli and bread
  • crab cakes with sauteed green beans
  • Dessert: Chocolate-Cherry Linzer Tarts

What We're Watching:

  • Supergirl is back and while I still enjoy it, I don't enjoy it as much as I used to enjoy it.
  • This Sunday is the Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown episode of Pittsburgh. Just in case you haven't heard (seen it tweeted a billion times a day by a billion sources since he was spotted here last spring).
  • Another show, Late Night Eats on Cooking Channel, aired a Pittsburgh episode a couple weeks ago. The host visited The Yard, Umami, and Pirata.
  • Good Behavior is back. I'm not sure I'm still enjoying it.

What I'm Reading:

  • The Thanksgiving issues of my food magazines arrived, so I'm reading about turkey and stuffing even though Halloween still hasn't actually happened.
  • I read Trespasser by Paul Doiron. It's the second Mike Bowditch novel and I liked it as much as the first. I'll be starting the third one later today.
