Last weekend I used a neti pot for the first time. I did it 3 nights in a row. It seems to have made my sinus issues much worse. I feel crappier than before. So I quit. I'm not sure if/when I'll try again, but right now, I feel horrible.
This week was SP's birthday. We celebrated on Sunday with brunch at Eleven - yum. He also chose to grill lamb chops, use up the potatoes, and roast Brussels for his birthday meal.
What We're Eating:
- Grilled lamb chops with twice baked potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts
- Chef's Salad
- Dessert: Chocolate Chip Cookies - Thick, Soft, and Chewy
What We're Watching:
- After a long break for The Olympics, regular TV is back!
- I'm looking forward to the Scandal & HTGAWM crossover tonight.
- Victoria Season 2 on PBS ended. We still really enjoy the show.
- We watched Victoria & Abdul, a movie set when Queen Victoria was much older and more rotund than in the PBS Victoria show.
- Designated Survivor is back! I had a few quibbles with last night's episode, but overall I still enjoy it.
What I'm Reading:
- I managed to decrease the magazine pile by 3! That leaves 2, both issues of Smithsonian. I always want to subscribe to the more serious magazines but then I find it hard to pick them up and start reading. I don't even try to read SP's pile of Scientific American magazines.
- I finally requested some library books and of course 4 of them became available at the same time. So the book pile was 4. I read one.
- I read White Chrysanthemum by Mary Lynn Bracht. It's historical fiction about two Korean sisters separated during World War II, one kidnapped by the occupying Japanese forces and forced to become a comfort woman and the other left behind but always searching for her sister. It feels wrong to say I enjoyed the book given the subject matter, so I'll say it's a good book that I had trouble putting down even though it was sad and heartbreaking.
