Crêperie du Cloître


One morning, we took a walking tour of the Left Bank area. It was a 3 hour tour and ended at Notre Dame Cathedral, which is beautiful. I could spend hours just gazing at the details on the exterior. It was lunch time and we were hungry and looking forward to getting away from the crowds milling around in the rain. I had noticed on our map that there was a nearby crepe place: Crêperie du Cloître. It was indeed very close and soon we were seated inside, able to relax and dry out.

We ordered the same crepe: ham, cheese, egg. The crepes came with salad. This was my first crepe in France and I wasn't sure what to expect. But I definitely didn't expect this:
Runny/dippy egg. Barely set egg white. Oh my gosh I was so worried about my super sensitive tummy! Even if I could have figured out how to explain my dilemma in French, I didn't want to for fear of offending them with my stupid American food ideas. So I ate the corners and left the "plus sign" of egg on the plate. What I ate was quite good. SP ate all his, including runny egg.
We shared a lemon-sugar crepe for dessert. It was yummy, too.

The people who served us were very nice. There are English translations on the menu, so that helped! It wasn't too expensive and the crepes and salad made for a tasty lunch. By the time we left, the rain had slowed to a drizzle and we were ready to tackle seeing Sainte-Chapelle (so beautiful with all that stained glass).
