Thursday Thoughts

I'm so confused about what day it is and what I'm supposed to be doing! It's Thursday, which means Thursday Thoughts. I missed Thursday Thoughts last week because we were in a car driving from GA to PA for 10.5 hours. We spent Christmas with GA family. We hadn't seen them since last Christmas, so it was nice to finally have a visit in 2019! Plus, it was warm in GA. High 60's warm. So weird to have a warm holiday, but kind of nice!
This year we made five kinds of cookies and took them to GA. Nephew was trying to have willpower since his wrestling season runs through January and he needs to watch his weight but he really liked the Triple Ginger & Cinnamon Sugar ones. Since coming home, we've eaten a lot of salad for dinner.

We packed away our holiday decorations on Monday. As soon as December 25 is over, I'm ready to get the house back to normal. So here we are, a new year, new decade, 2020. We both have big birthdays this year, ones that mark the start of a new decade of life, one that we do not especially wish to celebrate. I just hope that 2020 is healthier for us than 2019 was. And I hope we get to try a lot of recipes in our 2 new cookbooks, The Perfect Cake and The Side Dish Bible.

What We're Eating:

  • Salad, with ham and/or shrimp, shredded jarlsberg/smoked gouda, hard boiled egg, and poppyseed dressing
  • Pasta with Prosciutto & Peas
  • New Year's Day Treat: Buttermilk Waffles with blueberries
  • Dessert: leftover cookies, leftover holiday candy

What We're Watching:

  • We finished the third and final season of Glitch on Netflix. I like that the story had closure.
  • We watched the third season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime and enjoyed it. Curious to see where season 4 goes after that ending (assuming there is a season 4).
  • We finally started the final season of Silicon Valley on HBO. Two more episodes to go. It's still funny, but good grief those nerds are so smart and yet so... not smart.
  • Tonight the final two episodes of Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition air.
  • We watched the Downton Abbey movie and really enjoyed it. It made us realize how much we miss the show.
  • We also watched Men in Black: International. It was just OK. We didn't expect much and even so it barely met our low expectations!

What I'm Reading:
Nothing. Well, OK, the new cookbooks. I renewed my library book. I haven't looked at any magazines since before Christmas. So not much.
