Thursday Thoughts

  • I finally went to the eye doctor about my eyelid problems. Now I have an $83 tube of prescription gunk to smear on my eyelids twice a day. That's $83 for 3.5 g of stuff. Sheesh. I hope this stuff works.
  • The eyelid problem? Since mid-May my eyelids have been super puffy/swollen, presumably from allergies, but then they got itchy, too, which has never before happened. I tried cold compresses and hot compresses. Like a fool, I indulged in scratching/rubbing a few times and caused my eyes to really swell and turn pink and horrid. The swelling has caused deep creases. Then my eyelids got dry, then super dry with actual flakes of dry eyelid flaking onto my lashes. I tried all my Clinique creams (moisture surge, moisturizing gel, all about eyes, smart repair for eyes) as well as Jergens. Nothing helped much and at times my eyelids burned from the cream. So I called the eye doctor. And now this pricey tune of neosporin-like stuff. SP says it makes my eyelids glisten. Yup. That's because it's kind of greasy.
  • We bought a meat slicer. We've talked about it for years since we roast turkey every week for lunch. Except that we didn't roast turkey the past 2 months because of SP's surgeries. We ate Boar's Head turkey, which is not sold at our grocery store so my parents bought it at theirs and brought it over every week. My dad says he is happy to be done with the "turkey trot."
  • The purchased deli turkey was so nice and thin and I was reluctant to switch back. But deli meat isn't super healthy. So we decided to finally buy the meat slicer to see if we could get our roast turkey breast sliced thin. It seems to do a pretty good job. We also used it to slice some cheese.

What We're Eating:

  • Smoked Ribs with grilled potatoes and grilled green beans
  • Fattoush
  • Dessert: Ice cream

What We're Watching:

  • Sex Education (Netflix, 2 seasons). We finished season 1 and season 2 and are looking forward to season 3 in September. We think it's really funny and also sweet. Sometimes it's cringe-worthy, like drunk Otis at his party. Sometimes super sweet like the group of girls in detention and at the bus stop. And sometimes that same group of girls is just awesome like when Ola takes them where Adam took her.
  • This is a Robbery: The World's Biggest Art Heist (Netflix). It's a 4 episode documentary miniseries about the March 18, 1990 robbery of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Like many documentaries, it seems like some ground is covered multiple times over the episodes, but overall it's quite interesting and always made me change my mind about the robbers' identities. There were 13 works of art stolen, including Rembrandt's only seascape, and the robbery remains unsolved.
  • Bosch Season 7 (Amazon Prime, 8 episodes). Just as good as the other seasons. There is supposed to be a spinoff on IMDV tv? What is that?!!
  • I had to look up geek summaries and explanations of the ending of Loki episode 4. I'm still confused but hopefully it'll become clear in the next 2 episodes.

What I'm Reading:

Taking a break from books. Making my way through the magazine stack, re-reading the old issues and starting the new issues.
